Parent Participation Policy
For children ages 8 and younger, we require that a parent/guardian accompany children to their weekly lesson for the first two years of instrument study. You should remain in the lesson, and quietly observe as your child's instructor works with them. After each lesson, your instructor will make sure you and your child understand the weekly assignment.
During the week between lessons, you will be tasked with helping your child practice. For little ones, we ask that parents carve out at least 4 practice sessions per week, about 10-15 minutes each session. The reason for this is multi-faceted. Your child is too young to self-direct their practice without assistance. Additionally, many parents report that their own understanding of music and their child's learning style deepens as they work together on their instrument and develop goal-setting skills. Your child will learn good practice habits and working together will show them that this is an important commitment that their parent is also invested in.

Absence Policy
We understand that scheduling conflicts arise from time to time. Students are entitled to one (1) missed lesson credit per semester. A missed lesson credit may be used as a one-lesson discount for a future Fall or Spring semester, but is not refundable. In order to adequately compensate our highly skilled faculty for their time, any additional missed lessons are forfeited. While we don't accommodate lesson rescheduling, students may be able to organize a "Lesson Swap" with another student in your teacher's studio. If a foreseeable conflict arises, you may be able to organize an unofficial "lesson swap" with another student in your teacher's studio. This procedure will be explained at the beginning of each semester.
Parent Supervision Policy
Parents or Guardians must supervise their child at all times immediately before and after a student's lesson time. SoBo Music Academy only provides supervision during the child's contracted lesson time, and is not responsible for children before the lesson has begun or after the lesson has ended. Children are not allowed to enter or exit the building by themselves, and must be supervised by an adult at all times immediately before and after their scheduled lesson.
